Saved settings and backups

MCV DJ automatically saves several preferences in your Windows profile. You do not need to create a settings folder manually or press a general save button.

What is kept

  • Broadcast server, port, mountpoint, username, protected password, TLS and bitrate.
  • Selected microphone, main output and prelisten output.
  • Microphone, deck, master and headphone volumes.
  • Interface language.
  • Cart files, names, volumes and shortcuts, and their music reduction settings.
  • Queue, carts and diagnostics visibility.
  • Configured keyboard shortcuts.

Keeping a setting does not mean activating it. When the app opens, broadcasting, microphone capture and local monitoring start disabled. Cart sounds do not trigger automatically.

What you need to prepare again

The working queue is not restored automatically. Save it to a .mcvplaylist file and import it again when needed. The exact listening position is not restored.

Voice processing and automatic music ducking when speaking are working settings in this version and are not kept between sessions. Also check microphone mute and mixing controls before each program; a complete live session is not restored.

Open the settings folder

  1. Close MCV DJ if you are going to copy or modify its settings.
  2. Open File Explorer.
  3. Enter %APPDATA%\MCV DJ in the address bar.
  4. Press Enter.

The configuration file is named settings.json. %APPDATA% asks Windows for your user's application data folder without needing its full path.

You do not need to edit this file to use MCV DJ. Make changes through the interface whenever possible.

Create a backup

With the app closed, copy settings.json to a backup folder. Separately save your .mcvplaylist files and the audio used by playlists and carts.

Settings and playlists contain file references; they are not copies of the music. If you delete or move the originals, reassign them or correct their locations before use.

The broadcast password is stored with Windows protection and normally depends on the same account and computer. Copying settings to another computer does not guarantee the password can be recovered. Keep access details through an appropriate means and do not share your settings as public documentation.

Restore a backup

On the same account and computer, close the app, keep a copy of the current file and place the backup in the settings folder. Open MCV DJ and check the result before broadcasting.

If you move settings to another account or computer and get an error reading them or recovering the password, use the settings reset procedure below and enter the details through the interface.

Start with fresh settings

  1. Close MCV DJ.
  2. Open %APPDATA%\MCV DJ.
  3. Rename settings.json to a backup name, such as settings-backup.json.
  4. Open MCV DJ again.
  5. Configure language, devices and broadcasting through the interface.

This procedure keeps the previous file for reference or recovery. It does not delete audio files or playlists.

If changes cannot be saved

Check Audio engine status or Settings status. If the existing file cannot be read, the app preserves it and avoids overwriting it during that session. This may make it seem that you changed a preference but it was not restored later.

Close the app normally, keep a copy of the file and check the folder location and permissions. If you need a fresh start, use the procedure above. Do not delete the file while the app is open.
